UW College of Law Dean's Advisory Board Member Profile:  Kara Brighton

By Meagan K. Ciesla

It makes sense that Dean’s Advisory Board Member Kara Brighton would be a small business owner one day. Both of Brighton’s parents were entrepreneurs; her father the owner of a John Deere dealership and her mother a gift shop. After graduating from the University of Wyoming with a Bachelor of Science in small business management, Ms. Brighton moved on to the University of Nebraska to obtain her law degree. By the age of 29, she had started her own firm.

She is currently a partner in Hageman & Brighton, PC, a firm which handles water and natural resource law. Her interest in the environment carries through to her work on the Dean's Advisory Board for the UW College of Law, as well as her place on the Board of the College of Agriculture. Brighton is excited about the work being done on the William N. Brimmer Legal Education Center and feels that the new facility will strengthen the law school and provide its students with top notch educational opportunities.
