Jerry Parkinson has been a Professor of Law at the University of Wyoming College of Law since 1998 and served as Dean from 1998 to 2009.  Parkinson teaches Criminal Procedure and an Education Law seminar.  He also serves in a volunteer capacity as Coordinator of Appeals for the NCAA Division I Committee on Infractions, and has handled more than a dozen appeals, including ten oral arguments, on behalf of the NCAA.

Before joining the College of Law at the University of Wyoming, Parkinson was a law professor (from 1987-1998) and associate dean (1992-1996) at the University of Oklahoma, where he was a three-time recipient of the Outstanding Teacher award. Prior to teaching law, he practiced law in Portland, Oregon, for the law firm of Miller, Nash, Wiener, Hager & Carlsen, and served as a law clerk for the Honorable John F. Kilkenny of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Before law school, Parkinson was a high school mathematics teacher and coach, and served three years as a Deputy United States Marshal.

Most of Professor Parkinson's scholarship has been in the education law area. His publications include two books on the law of student expulsions and suspensions and the law of teacher evaluation.
