University of Wyoming
Division of Information Technology

The new Information Technology Facility will be three stories high at
more than 80,000 square feet. The design includes more than 110 office spaces, computer labs, development labs, training rooms, computer help desk, computer sales area, and a 6000 square foot TIER II+ state-of-the-art computing center.
The $34.9 million project was funded by the Wyoming State Legislature in 2006. Construction started in August 2007 and is scheduled for completion December of 2008 on the site of the former Honors House, (also known as the Bunkhouse) east of the Chi Omega House on Sorority Row. This site is a highly accessible location near core campus that will give students, faculty, and staff easy access to direct technology services, training support, and a campus IT store.
Ground-breaking ceremonies were held Thursday, September 6, 2007.

The Division of Information Technology, as a service organization, provides the university community with high performance computing and networking, technical support for systems and applications, computer support and training, and telecommunications services.
The new IT building will house all four departments of the university's Division of Information Technology along with the vice president's office and related functions. A critical component of the university's technology infrastructure is Information Technology's central computing machine room that houses the computers providing essential university technology services, data storage and backup for all UW's central computing systems. These functions are vital not only to the day-to-day operations of the University, but to those of the State of Wyoming, whose data are also backed-up daily to the servers in the University's central machine room.
The new building will support the data infrastructure that keeps the information flowing and meets the increasing expectations of the university community for technology capacity, availability, reliability, access and quality customer service.
Thanks to the vision of university administration and the legislature, the Division of Information Technology will be equipped to meet the future technology needs of the university community with quality customer service and the computing, communications and network infrastructure to support that service.
