The council is an independent, nonprofit organization supported primarily by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, and also by private contributions. Each year, the Wyoming Humanities Council sponsors hundreds of cultural and educational programs for museums, libraries, schools, and other community organizations.
It has become increasingly difficult to meet all the cultural needs of Wyoming communities with our federal allocation. Your assistance will help us continue to bring quality humanities programs to communities across the state. Your gift is tax-deductible and eligible to be matched 1:1 by the National Endowment for the Humanities, thus doubling the impact of your contribution.
In 1996, the Wyoming Humanities Council established a permanent endowment fund with the Wyoming Community Foundation. Known as the Wyoming Humanities Endowment, the fund was established to support public humanities programs in Wyoming. Friends may specify that their gifts are for the Wyoming Humanities Endowment Fund, or they may make a general contribution to the council.
In 2007, the Wyoming Humanities Council raised over $26,000 in Leadership Gifts, more than halfway to our $50,000 goal to launch an endowment campaign in collaboration with the University of Wyoming College of Arts and Sciences. The endowment will benefit students and faculty participating in Wyoming Humanities council programs. The endowment agreement stipulates that the Wyoming Humanities Council will provide $50,000 that will be matched by the University of Wyoming. Friends may specify that their gifts are for the WHC/UW Endowment Fund, or they may make a general contribution to the council.
