Humanities Forum

Bringing Discussion to Your Community

Applications to join the Humanities Forum due May 30.

The Humanities Forum features programs by outstanding presenters who travel throughout Wyoming to speak at meetings and special events. Each presenter engages the audience in an active discussion of his or her topic. Not-for-profit groups and public agencies may host up to two Humanities Forum programs per year. The only cost to the host organization is a $50 application fee; all other speaker expenses are covered by the council. Programs must be free and open to the public.

Special 2007-08 Forum Theme: Between Fences

In honor of the 2007-08 Wyoming tour of the Smithsonian exhibition Between Fences, the forum features seven special programs that explore fences and borders as part of the Wyoming landscape; as real or invisible dividing lines in Wyoming history; and as metaphors for social and national boundaries.

How to Apply to Host a 2008 Humanities Forum Program

  • Contact the presenter directly to arrange a program date and time. Programs must take place between November 1, 2007 and October 31, 2008. Please be sure to allow at least one hour for the presentation and group discussion that will follow.
  • Discuss your expectations for the program (audience size, age group, any special themes) with the presenter and ask about audiovisual needs.
  • Print out and complete the application form available online at www.uwyo.edu/humanities/forms or request a form be sent via mail or fax.
  • Mail the completed application form to Wyoming Humanities Council with your application fee of $50 at least two weeks before the program date. Advance planning is encouraged as funds are limited.

You will receive confirmation of your program booking within approximately one week.
