Sept. 18, 2007 -- Focusing on healthy children will be the topic of a conference Sept. 21-22, at the University of Wyoming.

"Focus on the Healthy Child: An Interprofessional Model," will be presented by the College of Health Sciences' Interprofessional Task Force. The conference is from 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, and from 7:30 a.m.-noon Saturday, Sept. 22 in the Wyoming Union ballroom.

The featured speaker, Diane D. Allensworth, served as a health education professor at Kent State University and as the executive director of the American School Health Association. She is currently the education sector leader for the Division of Private and Public Partnerships within the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

During the seminar, two "showcase rotations" will be presented in which speakers from throughout the state will discuss a variety of topics such as health and physical education, nutrition and counseling, psychological and social services, and family/community involvement. Participants can choose which topic session to attend.

Another conference feature is an "Open Space World Cafe," where speakers are seated around the room and participants are able to move from one to the next, staying for as long as they like.
