Cooperative Extension
This is an area position covering Uinta, Sweetwater,
Sublette, Lincoln, and Teton Counties. The position is based in Evanston,
Wyoming. Screening will begin February 29, 2008 and continue until a suitable
candidate is identified. Salary is commensurate with education, experience, and
availability of funds.
Emphasis for this position is to provide nutrition and
food safety education to assist Wyoming citizens in making wise nutrition and
health decisions and safe food-handling practices. Training in human nutrition,
food science, dietetics, family and consumer sciences, education, and food
safety will be important credentials.
Responsibilities:
The individual in this position will work as a local
representative of the University of Wyoming (UW), maintain a working
relationship with county commissioners, utilize advisory committees and other
input to determine needs. Primary duties include but are not limited to:
provide educational programming in the nutrition and food safety initiative in
a five county area in collaboration with the other NFS area educator; plan and
implement applied research activities in collaboration with UW faculty and/or
Extension specialists; provide expertise and leadership for portions of the 4-H
and youth program; work as a team member with the entire county staff to
provide innovative educational opportunities in all Extension program areas;
cooperate with other agencies and organizations; use available media to educate
the public and to publicize programs and activities; support general County
Extension operations. To accomplish individual and group goals, applicants must
have demonstrated skills as indicated by experience and references in working
with individuals, groups, and coworkers. Excellence in the ability to
communicate verbally and in writing demonstrated by formal training,
experience, and application material. Ability to work with limited supervision.
Required:
A master's degree from an accredited college or
university in nutrition, food science, dietetics, family and consumer sciences,
education, or cognate field clearly and specifically related to the Extension
function. A valid driver's license and serviceable vehicle are required. The
selected candidate will be required to successfully complete a Wyoming State
Department of Family Services Central Registry Screen as a condition of
employment. This screening will be required every five years.

Assistant
University Extension Educator, Profitable and Sustainable Agricultural
Systems. Converse County, Douglas,
WY. Position #1404 Actual salary level commensurate with
education, experience, and availability of funds. This position will remain
open until a suitable candidate is identified.
The individual in this position will
work as a local representative of the University of Wyoming (UW), maintain a
working relationship with the county commissioners, utilize advisory committees
and other input to determine needs. Primary duties include but are not limited
to: provide educational programming in crops, forage grasses, range, and
irrigated pasture management; provide educational programming in the Profitable
and Sustainable Agriculture extension initiative in a three county area; plan
and implement applied research activities in collaboration with local producer
or other interested individuals and UW faculty and /or Extension specialists;
provide expertise and leadership for portions of 4-H and youth programs; work
as a team member with the entire county staff to provide innovative educational
opportunities in all Extension program areas; cooperate with other agencies and
organizations; use available media to educate the public and to publicize
programs and activities. PLEASE
NOTE: This position is located in
Douglas, Wyoming. Some overnight travel,
evening, and weekend work is required.
Qualifications
– Required
This
position requires a master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
One degree must have been awarded in agriculture, agronomy, or cognate field
clearly and specifically related to the Extension function. To accomplish
individual and/or group goals applicants must have demonstrated skills, as
indicated by experience and references, in working with individuals, groups,
and coworkers. Excellence in ability to communicate verbally and in writing
demonstrated by formal training, experience, and application material. Ability
to work with limited supervision. A valid driver’s license and serviceable
vehicle. A commitment to travel throughout rural counties. The selected
candidate will be required to successfully complete a Wyoming State Department
of Family Services Central Registry Screen as a condition of employment. This

Qualifications
– Preferred
•Knowledge
of Cooperative Extension and the land-grant university system.
•Knowledge
of and appreciation for rural and agricultural communities.
•Training
and/or expertise in agriculture or agronomy.
•Ability and
necessary expertise to work with both traditional and non-traditional
agriculture.
•Subject
matter expertise in crops and/or agronomy and/or irrigated pasture management.
•Computer
literacy.
•Prior
Extension experience is preferred.
•Ability to
address issues related to horticulture and entomology.

Cooperative Extension
This is an area position covering Sweetwater, Uinta,

educator. The position will be based in Rock Springs, Wyoming. To assure full

The major focus of this position is conducting
Extension educational programs in the area of community development. This
initiative are called Community Development Education (CDE) is focused on
increasing the capacity of communities by increasing skills in: financial
management; communication; problem solving; decision making; leadership; goal
achievement; and developing networks. Work as a team member with the entire county
staff and area team to offer innovative educational opportunities in CDE
extension program areas, cooperate with other agencies and organizations, and
use available media to educate the public.
The individual in this position will work as a local
representative of the University of Wyoming (UW) and maintain a close working
relationship with the Sweetwater County Cooperative Extension team and
Southwest area team. This position specifically includes:
Utilize area advisory committee, commissioners, and other
input to determine needs and issues facing county and area citizens.
Develop interdisciplinary programs to address needs
and issues within the CDE initiative.
Represent the Southeast area on the CDE state
initiative team.
Provide expertise and leadership for CDE subject
matter to youth in the area.
Develop linkages and relationships between Cooperative
Extension and community organizations or agencies.
Teach in a variety of settings subject matter in
family financial management, community leadership development, communication
skills, problem solving and group process, and development of community
networks.
Provide reports of activities and accomplishments.
Able to self-start a project and maintain multiple
projects as designated. Assist with special projects on a local or state-wide
level.
A master's degree from an accredited college or
university in Family and Consumer Sciences, Communication, Business
Administration, Education, Community Health Education, Economic Development,
Political Science, Agribusiness and Applied Economics, Rural Sociology or a
related field. A valid driver's license and serviceable vehicle are required.

WY. Position #2241 Subject to annual reappointment and
contingent to availability of funds.
Actual salary commensurate with education and experience. Upon completion of master’s degree,
demonstrated excellent performance, and availability of funds, promotion to extended
term track extension educator position is possible.Close date for applications

The individual in this position will
work as a local representative of the University of Wyoming (UW) and maintain a
close working relationship with the Carbon County Cooperative Extension
Team. The position includes: administrate, coordinate, and organize 4-H
youth programs and projects with guidance from the County Coordinator; assemble
educational materials; provide assistance to and training for new participants
and leaders. Serve as an information
resource to 4-H leaders, youth, and parents.
Work with the other county extension educators, 4-H Leaders Council and
advisory committees to plan 4-H projects and activities. Provide leadership in developing materials
and educational programs and opportunities for junior leaders’ ag/livestock
projects, family and consumer sciences and general projects. Conduct educational programs for youth and
adult volunteer leaders in general areas of market/breeding livestock, small
animals, horses, natural resources, shooting sports, clothing, foods, and
development of training materials.
Coordination of 4-H and youth events and involvement in county and state
fairs and other similar events/situations.
Participate in total programming reporting and documentation. Serve as a liaison between the 4-H and youth
program and community organizations which are partners with the 4-H program and
are involved with other youth related activities. Responsible for the development of the 4-H
and youth newsletter, write 4-H and youth news releases, and assist with
promotions for marketing of programs.
Assist leaders and coaches with training for judging competitions. Able to self-start a project and maintain
multiple projects as designated. Assist
with special projects on a local or state wide level. PLEASE NOTE:
This position is located in Rawlins, Wyoming. Some overnight travel, evening, and weekend
work is required.
Qualifications
– Required
This position requires an earned bachelor’s degree. Degrees in education, child/family/human development, family and consumer sciences, agriculture, animal science, leisure studies, youth development or cognate field clearly and specifically related to the extension youth development function. Knowledge of development stages of youth and teaching methods to reach a variety of youth and adult audiences. Experience in audience needs identification, educational program development, implementation and evaluation. Skills and abilities to organize and facilitate educational programs, activities, contests, field days, camps, and fairs as part of the 4-H program. Ability to recruit, train, and manage volunteers. Ability to develop linkages and participate in coalitions with other youth organizations in the county. Skills in developing mass media material such as press releases and newsletters and/or conducting broadcasted programs. Communication skills. Skills to document program impact and complete state reports.
