JOB CATEGORIES AND WAGES

HOURLY WAGE

CLASS 1 – No Special Skills Required

·         Jobs which require few special skills and little or no previous training or work experience for the performance of routine tasks.  Employment is generally well supervised.

·         UW minimum hourly wage is $7.25/hour.

 

 

$7.25 - $7.55

CLASS 2 – Partially Skilled

·         Jobs which require some previous training, experience, skill or knowledge.  Work performed is generally supervised, however, employees may act as supervisors of Class 1 positions.

 

 

$7.56 - $8.05

CLASS 3 – Skilled

·         This category includes, but is not restricted to, jobs which require training or experience, independent judgment and skills which are complicated and difficult to acquire.  Employees may act as supervisors of Class 1 and 2 positions.

 

 

$8.06 - $8.55

 

CLASS 4 – Highly Skilled

·         Jobs which require a high degree of mental activity and independent judgment.  Work performed requires knowledge of the specialized field, the ability to make decisions and, often, the supervision of other employees.

o   LEVEL 1

§  Requires some, but not extensive, knowledge of the specialized field.

o   LEVEL 2

§  Student should be requested by name.  Generally restricted to graduate students.  Requires a higher level of training and a greater degree of specialization than Level 1.

§  Maximum pay for an undergraduate is $9.55/hour.

o   LEVEL 3

§  Student should be requested by name.  Restricted to graduate students performing tasks in their field.  This level is comparable to a Graduate Assistant who assists a faculty member in teaching and/or research.

CLASS 5 – Resident Assistants

·        Jobs performed in residence halls such as peer counseling, staffing the main desk, supervising recreation areas, etc. and requires certain levels of college course work.
