Temporary Work Adjustment/Reasonable Accommodation Instructions
Reasonable Accommodation Determination
Determination of reasonable accommodations will be made by The Human Resources Department (HR) with information provided by other University personnel regarding the performance standards for the position.
Once accommodations are implemented, HR will contact the employee and supervisor monthly for the first 6 months, and annually thereafter, to determine whether accommodations remain effective. Current medical documentation may be requested for these determinations. If adjustments to accommodations are requested by either the employee or the supervisor at any time, Human Resources must be consulted.
If the employee is not deemed protected under ADA/504, the employee can ask for a temporary work adjustment. (Typically less than six months.) These temporary work adjustments may allow an employee to return to work or maintain attendance at work following an illness or injury. The employee is typically healing/recovering (e.g., broken bone, surgery, etc.) from an illness/condition. The employee would be advised by HR of the duration of the temporary adjustment and that this adjustment does not qualify under ADA/504.
