PURPOSE
Observes and inspects all new construction and major remodeling projects at the University for compliance with contracts, codes and standards of practice.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Perform and/or confirm quality control tests on materials and systems to assure compliance with contracts and specifications.
Act as resource and liaison between University and architects, engineers and contractors; assist with identification and resolution of problems of construction and remodeling projects.
Review and evaluate plans and specifications for future projects; review shop drawings, change orders, field orders and the like.
Document and file job related information including correspondence, test reports and shop drawings.
Monitor project expenditures and budget; review contractors' payment applications against work performed and materials used.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Standard office environment with routine travel to construction sites; regularly exposed to hazards associated with construction in progress including heights, fumes, adverse weather conditions, darkness or poor lighting, confined spaces, and chemical, electrical and mechanical hazards.
