Staff Recognition Day Honors UW Employees

April 1, 2003 -- More than 200 employees were honored Tuesday for their years of service and contributions to the University of Wyoming.

At Staff Recognition Day ceremonies, Rebecca Riley, office associate in the Department of History, received the "Outstanding Employee of the Year," sponsored by UniWyo Credit Union and Pepsi.

Other award recipients were Josie Montez, office assistant senior in the Department of Communication and Journalism, the Jody Humphrey Inspirational Staff Award, sponsored by PacifiCorp; Jesse Ballard, computer support services specialist with Information Technology, Steve Jackson, Information Technology master technician, Karen White, instructional laboratory coordinator in the Department of Molecular Biology, and Peggy McCrackin, computer maintenance technician in the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering, the UW Staff Incentive awards; and Robin Dotson, Residence Life and Dining Services facilities and grounds attendant, the Skilled Crafts/Services Award.

Unsung Hero full-time awards were presented to Plum Hull, switchboard operator with the News Service in University Public Relations; Tanaya Moon Morris, Multicultural Student Life project coordinator; Bistra Anatchkova, Survey Research Center manager; and Jim Trabing, Athletics facilities and grounds manager. The Unsung Hero part-time award went to B. Lynnette McCann, Human Resources Department office assistant senior.

UW Off-campus award recipients were Warren Crawford, Cooperative Extension Service project coordinator in Carbon County; and Candis Lane, office associate with the Small Business Development Center office in Casper.
Recognized for 30 years of service were: Cheryl A. Adair, Laura S. Almendares, Allen Frank Fuller, Lloyd K. Hashimoto, James Kirkpatrick, Rabinder Kumar, Royce W. Lane, Kevin M. McKinney, Elvita R. Sanchez, Jerry Duane Tastad and James W. Trabing.

Receiving recognition for 25 years of service were: Susan R. Allen, Sharon L. Attebery, Lois Madge Berry, Kathleen A. Berwick, Delores S. Bixby, James Lee Brown, Phillip M. Bulgin, Sandra S. DeCora, Evelyn Marie Durkee, Beth L. Howell, Brenda Jean Jones, Gregory Paul Kipper, James Walter Knadler, Michael D. Lindquist, Georgia D. Mitchell, Carol Persson and Christy Lou Rickard.

Awards also were presented to UW staff employees with 20, 15, 10 and 5 years of service.
