UW Trustees Approve Personnel Items

Jan. 20, 2006 -- University of Wyoming trustees approved the following personnel items during their meeting today (Friday).

ADMINISTRATIVE APPOINTMENTS:

Phill Harris as vice president for administration. Harris has served as vice president for budget and planning since 2002.

Janet Lowe as associate vice president for fiscal administration. Lowe has served as controller since 2002.

FACULTY APPOINTMENTS:

College of Agriculture

David Liberles as Department of Molecular Biology assistant professor. He received a B.A. (1991) in biology from Oberlin College, an M.S. (1995) in biology and a Ph.D. (1997) in chemistry from the California Institute of Technology.

ACADEMIC PROFESSIONALS APPOINTMENTS:

College of Agriculture

Carolyn Benepe as Cooperative Extension Service assistant extension educator. She has been UW Cent$ible Nutrition project coordinator since 2001.

Scott Schell as Department of Renewable Resources assistant research scientist. He has been a temporary assistant research scientist since 2003.

Research Office

Greg Kerr as Wyoming Office of Water Programs director. He is an associate lecturer in the UW Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering and manages the research program that is a partnership among the Wyoming Water Development Commission, the National Institute of Water Resources and UW.

CHANGES IN APPOINTMENTS:

Academic Affairs

Margaret Garner as the Writing Center director. She will serve a three-year term.

College of Agriculture

Roger Coupal as Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics interim department head.

James Jacobs as Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics professor. He ends his appointment as associate dean in the College of Agriculture and as director of the Wyoming Agricultural Experiment Station.

Fred Gray as interim head of the Department of Plant Sciences.
Justin Moss as Department of Plant Sciences assistant research scientist, from assistant extension educator. He continues as director of the Sheridan Research and Extension Center.
Richard Arnold Olson as Department of Renewable Resources interim department head.

Thomas Thurow as Department of Renewable Resources professor. He ends his appointment as department head.

College of Arts and Sciences

Robert Kelly as Department of Anthropology head.

Audrey Shalinsky as Department of Anthropology professor. She ends her appointment as department head.

Edward Clennan as Department of Chemistry head.

Dean Roddick as Department of Chemistry professor. He ends his appointment as department head.

Cheryl Burnett as interim head of the Department of Criminal Justice.

Arthur Snoke as Department of Geology and Geophysics head.
Mark Potter as Department of History head.

Kristine Utterback as Department of History associate professor. She ends her appointment as department head.

Philip Holt as Department of Modern and Classical Languages head.
David Brinkman as Department of Music head.

Richard Machalek as Department of Sociology professor. He ends his appointment as department head.

Christian Ukaegbu as Department of Sociology head.

College of Business

Lanny Stevens as M.B.A. Program director. He served as a temporary assistant lecturer in the Department of Management and Marketing.

Anne Alexander as Department of Economics and Finance visiting assistant professor. She ends her appointment as assistant dean.
Robert Godby as Department of Economics and Finance head.

Owen Phillips as Department of Economics and Finance professor. He ends his appointment as head of the department.

College of Education

Suzanne Young as interim head of the Department of Educational Leadership.

Francisco Rios as Department of Educational Studies professor. He ends his appointment as department head.

Allen Trent as acting head of the Department of Educational Studies.

Leslie Zorko as Department of Educational Studies assistant professor. She ends her appointment as interim department head.
Lydia Dambekalns as interim head of the Department of Secondary Education.

Kay Cowie as a Department of Special Education associate lecturer. She ends her appointment as interim department head.

Dorothy Jean Yocom as Department of Special Education associate professor. She ends her appointment as department head.

Judith Ellsworth as Department of Elementary and Early Childhood Education associate professor. She ends her appointment as director of the Science and Math Teaching Center.

Robert McCarthy as Department of Educational Leadership senior lecturer. He converted from a tenured faculty member to an extended term senior lecturer.

College of Engineering

Richard Schmidt as associate dean.
David Whitman as Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering professor. He ends his appointment as associate dean.
