Nov. 2, 2007 -- Kristallnacht or “The Night of Broken Glass,” the largest and most dramatic instance of mass violence in Nazi Germany prior to the beginning of World War II, will be examined in a free lecture at the University of Wyoming Friday, Nov. 9.

“Anatomy of a Race Riot: The November Pogrom in Germany, 1938" will be presented by Alan E. Steinweis from the University of Nebraska from 3:30-5:30 p.m. in Room 302 of the Classroom Building. The lecture covers the night thousands of Germans assaulted Jews and destroyed synagogues and Jewish homes and Jewish businesses.

Steinweis is a professor of modern European history and Judaic studies. He has written several books on Jewish and Nazi subjects, and is the editor of the American edition of the “Comprehensive History of the Holocaust.”
