Gamma Theta
Upsilon hosts several events every year. Here are some of the
highlights.
Geography Awareness Week is held in November every year in conjunction with National Geography Awareness Week (which is sponsored by National Geographic Magazine). GTU and Geography Club host visiting and local speakers, films and other events throughout the week.
As part of Geography Awareness Week, GTU presents the Geography Trivia Bowl. The Trivia Bowl is a public event that takes place on Thursday night in The Gardens. The competition is a test of each team's geographic knowledge. Teams of three people may enter the bowl.
Along with the Geography Department, GTU sponsors a picnic every fall. All are invited to join in the celebration!
Every April, GTU helps the Wyoming Geographic Alliance (WGA) in hosting the National Geography Bee for kids. this usually takes place on the UW Campus. More information can be found on the WGA homepage.
Almost every year, GTU plans events that celebrate Earth Day or Earth Week. In recent years GTU has hosted a cleanup of a local greenspace.
Each Spring, GTU and the Department also put on a spring picnic. The picnic is usually held in late April or early May to celebrate spring and present outstanding graduates with any awards they received.
