The Chronicle of Higher Education provides a searchable "browse-by-subject" feature.

The Chronicle of Philanthropy  includes articles about significant gifts and grants and also provides, to subscribers, an electronic database of corporate and foundation grants.  UW Foundation is a subscriber.

Community of Science

Foundations On-Line is a service of the Northern California Community Foundation, providing a searchable directory of grantmakers.

The Foundation Center's mission is to support and improve institutional philanthropy by promoting public understanding of the field and helping grantseekers succeed.  Includes Finding Funders: a tool that allows you to search by name for basic financial and contact information on more than 65,000 private and community foundations in the U.S.  May also locate 990-PFs.

Grantsnet  is a one-stop resource to find funds for training in the biomedical sciences and undergraduate science education.

GrantStation researches funding sources by interacting directly with funders nationwide.

Guidestar offers a variety of services (free and fee based) on nonprofits and is useful for locating IRS forms 990-PF.

Illinois Researcher Information Service (IRIS) offers three Web-based funding and research services: the IRIS Database of federal and private funding opportunities in all disciplines; the IRIS Alert Service; and the IRIS Expertise Service.   UW Office of Research is a subscriber.

Internet Prospector
