Dick and Maggie (Webster) Scarlett find that giving to their alma mater is a gratifying experience.
Donating to UW is returning, in part, what has been given to them and generations to come.
The couple feels closely connected to UW. Their son, Bill, and son-in-law, Kent Noble, are graduates of the university. Maggie’s parents and siblings are graduates of the university. Dick’s brother, sister, and the couple’s nephews and nieces have attended and graduated from UW. “It’s a family affair,” states Maggie.
Dick was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Laws in May 2002. He has also been recognized as a UW Distinguished Alumnus and a Distinguished Alumnus of the College of Business. Maggie was named an Outstanding Alumna of the College of Arts and Sciences in 2004. In 2000, the Webster family was honored by
the university as the Wyoming Family of the Year.
Dick received his B.S. degree in business administration from the College of Business, while Maggie is a graduate of the College of Arts and Sciences with a B.S. degree in hearing and speech science.
The couple recently committed a significant financial amount to the College of Business for a Distinguished Professorship of Business Administration. “I have a strong appreciation and connection with the College of Business,” says Dick. “I hope I have an impact on that school through giving.”
“One of our motivations for supporting the College of Business is that small businesses are integral to the economic well-being of the state of Wyoming,” states Maggie. Dick serves as the Chairman of the Board and CEO of United Bancorporation of Wyoming, Inc., and its three affiliate banks.
