Science and Math: The World Around Us |
| Science and mathematics abound in the world all around us and our world is becoming increasingly more technological and complex. Functioning in this world as a good citizen capable of making informed decisions, and as an employee capable of critical thinking and problem solving, requires the ability to apply science and mathematics to explain the world. This FIG will engage you in exploring science and mathematics in real-world settings. You will learn to see the world through scientific and mathematical lenses, to reason quantitatively and apply science to address contemporary problems. This FIG is open to all students who are curious about the world around them, including non-science and non-mathematics majors. Students interested in elementary teaching may find this an attractive option. You may even find yourself turned on to the world of science again. | |
