University of Wyoming

Social Justice in the 21st Century
This interdisciplinary FIG is appropriate for students interested in a wide array of possible career paths, including criminal justice, law, medicine, social work, and teaching.  Because the world is increasingly interconnected and interdependent, recognizing and understanding our diversity empowers us to act knowledgably in an ongoing commitment to social, economic, and political justice for an increasingly complex transnational society.  Students in this FIG will be introduced to concepts of diversity within the general context of culture, and encouraged to see the world beyond the university as both a resource for learning and as a civic sphere to which they have some responsibilities.  Social Justice in the 21st Century will appeal to students who wish to make a difference in their chosen careers.
