Supplemental English for UW International Students

For those students who are already enrolled in an academic program at the University, but wish to supplement your English language acquisition, there are a variety of opportunities for you to study at ELS.

  • One-on-One Tutoring by the Hour
  • Special Projects in a classroom setting tailored to meet students needs
  • Courses focused on Accent Reduction and Pronunciation
  • Courses focused on the needs of International TA/GA’s

Effective Communication is the Goal

The ELS Language Centerss program uses creative and dynamic learning activities to improve your ability to communicate in English. Rather than memorize rules, you build fluency by applying the structures and functions of English to meaningful, practical situations.  Our English Language Program also utilizes a variety of innovative techniques designed to actively engage you in the learning process.  You can expect stimulating classes filled with:

  • Integrated skills approach
  • Role-playing and problem-solving exercises
  • Discussions
  • Small-group activities

ELS Language Centers Guarantee

We give you a written guarantee to indicate how confident we are in the academic quality and effectiveness of our Intensive English Program.  After successfully graduating from Level 112 of the Intensive English Program, you may return to any of our Centers—within 1 year after leaving the program—free of tuition for additional study, if you feel you need additional English instruction for university classes or your profession.
