University of Wyoming

Environment

We seek to create a warm and welcoming environment for children and adults. We value the teaching function of a carefully prepared environment.

Our six classrooms are arranged in two wings; a shorter infant/toddler wing and longer preschool/school-age wing bordering two sides of our central multipurpose room.

The other wings house administrative and nurse’s offices, a kitchen, library, sun and science room, an observation room, meeting rooms, and a  teacher preparation room.

The multipurpose room is the heart of the school, the site for meeting and greeting, fantasy and physical play, performances, parent meetings, and community dinners.

Learning spaces extend outdoors for each age group.

We are also happy to announce that we participate in the US Department of Education Child and Adult Care Food Program.  In accordance with this program, we offer nutritious, warm meals for the children.  We offer a breakfast program from 8:15 to 9:00 am, and afternoon snack from 2:45-3:30. Lunch is provided for full-day children from noon - 12:30 p.m.  All meals are provided by UW Washakie food service or prepared on site with the assistance of a certified nutritionist.
