After School Room

The UWECEC offers after school programming for 25 children in kindergarten through sixth grade.  Activities are provided from 3-5:30 daily while the public schools are in session.  Due to space restrictions, care during public school breaks (1/2 and full day staff development days) is not available.

The After School room has one lead teacher who has a degree in elementary/early childhood education as well as 3 assistant teachers who have associates degrees or an equivalent combination of coursework and experience.  The children in the after school program enjoy an afternoon snack and opportunities to take part in games, outdoor play, field trips, walks, reading individually and in groups, and to finish any homework that they might have.  The children have access to the full resources of the center, including playground, multi-purpose room, library, and science room in addition to their classroom.

The after school program is largely funded through assistance from ASUW for qualifying families who are current UW students.  Other full tuition paying families are accepted as well.
