Writers'
Resources
The UW Writing Center is part of a national network of writing centers that provide writing instruction and links to writing resources. Although individual, face-to-face conferences comprise the backbone of our work, we also work with small groups and even whole classes on every aspect of the writing process. Writers come in at any time in the writing process (brainstorming, development, rough draft, revisions, etc.) to discuss their work with interested and experienced writing teachers. Our goal is to suggest writing and revising strategies writers can apply to more than just one piece of writing. The Writing Center helps with all kinds of writing tasks, including:
- Research papers
- Class papers
- Resumes and cover letters
- Citation and documentation
- Graduate theses and dissertations
- Lab reports
- Poetry
- Essay examinations
- Job applications
- Graduate school applications
- Grants
The Writing Center provides opportunities to conference with experienced writers who genuinely want to listen to and discuss your writing. We cannot, however, guarantee that a conference will improve the grade on the writing you discuss. Grades reflect many factors that are not discussed during a conference.
