Improving the Way We Evaluate Teaching

The focus of the series will be on specific techniques and strategies for thoughtful and meaningful teaching evaluations.


Online Teaching Evaluations
Wednesday, November 28:  1:00—2:00 pm, ECTL-Coe 307
Suzie Young, Educational Leadership

Suzie will discuss UW’s interest in on-line teaching evaluations, especially the College of Education’s success.  She will share the research that has been done, what the best practices have proved to be, and how the College of Education conducts the on-line teaching evaluations.  Snacks served.

Writing About Teaching
Thursday, November 29:  3:00—4:00 pm, ECTL-Coe 307
Audrey Shalinsky, A&S Dean’s Office

Based on her extensive experience with reading faculty packets, Audrey will discuss how to write persuasively about teaching in self-reflections and other teaching documents.  Snacks served.

Observing Teaching
Friday, November 30: Noon—1:00 pm, ECTL-Coe 307
Leann Kaiser, Adult Learning & Technology

Leann will discuss how to create a cycle of mutually beneficial teaching observations where the process becomes enjoyable as well as instructive.  This presentation is part of the ECTL’s Teaching and Learning Seminar Series for graduate students so seating may be limited.  Pizza served.
