Dr. Per Pinstrup-Andersen was the catalyst behind the groundbreaking 2020 Vision Initiative, the goal of which was sustainable food security for everyone in the world by 2020. He received the prestigious World Food Prize in 2001 for his contributions to agricultural research, food policy, and the reduction of poverty, hunger, and malnutrition. An agricultural economist, Dr. Pinstrup-Andersen has helped governments around the globe understand that food security will come as much from reliable policy research that guides sound policy development and implementation as it will from technological and scientific advances. |

Pinstrup-Andersen’s lecture will address the need for integrating ethics and economics to formulate public policy for the global and national food systems. Pinstrup-Andersen teaches at Cornell University where he is the H.E. Babcock Professor of Food, Nutrition, and Public Policy, the J. Thomas Clark Professor of Entrepreneurship, and Professor of Applied Economics. He is also Professor of Agricultural Economics at Copenhagen University. |

The Kaiser Ethics Lecture is a distinguished lecture presented annually at the University of Wyoming by a scholar of uncommon achievement, and funded by the Curt Kaiser Foundation. This year, the lecture is co-sponsored by the Department of Philosophy, the Office of Academic Affairs, the Ellbogen Center for Teaching & Learning, the College of Agriculture, the Social Justice Research Center, and supported by the Haub School with financial support from the RDC Foundation. |
