If your class is using eCompanion or WyoSakai as an online supplement,
your instructor will have told you which. Choose one set of
instructions below, accordingly. (For Course Studio help, see the
bottom of the page.)
ECOMPANION ACCESS
If
your instructor has requested an eCompanion shell to enhance the
classroom course, you are automatically enrolled in that eCompanion
shell in conjunction with your official UW registration. You
should already have received an automatically generated
e-mail letter.
>>>> Your eCompanion/OnlineUW user
account is
separate from your WyoWeb (UWYO domain) authentication; you must
remember both.
Obtaining
your User ID and Password for eCompanion/OnlineUW:
Go to the eCompanion/OnlineUW login page through the link in your "My
Courses" channel in WyoWeb, or the link on the left-hand bar here,
and click on the upper box labeled "Login."
Please follow the "New Login Instructions" there if you have
not already obtained the credentials that consist of your W-number and
new password, used since 2006.
Getting to your
eCompanion: Login with your new user ID and password. After you
login, you will be looking at your personal home page. Feel free to
explore the links you see there. To get to the eCompanion for your
course, click on the "Academics" tab, upper left, and then click on the
course name.
To Obtain a Forgotten Password: Use the
"Forgot your Password/User ID?" link on the eCompanion/OnlineUW login
page to have the details sent to via e-mail. You must enter your
UWYO domain account, that is, your official UW e-mail address.
E-Mail: Your eCompanion/OnlineUW e-mail
address is your official UW e-mail address, that is, your UWYO
domain account username attached to "uwyo.edu." This cannot be
changed. (You can, of course, forward your UW e-mail
to some other e-address if you wish.
See the UW IT pages for help.)
WYOSAKAI ACCESS
To
(a) create a WyoSakai account and (b) register for a WyoSakai course,
project, or portfolio, follow
the instructions below.
(a) Getting into WyoSakai
-
On the WyoSakai login page:
http://WyoSakai.uwyo.edu
Click on "I'm a new user, sign me up!" Follow the on-screen
instructions, completing the required fields (those marked
with asterisks). Both ID and password are
case-sensitive. Please choose strings of letters and digits
with no spaces, punctuation, or other odd characters-- we recommend
that you use your UWYO user ID-- and make certain that you will
remember both.
-
Your role will show as "guest" until
your instructor changes it. Remember your WyoSakai ID and password,
or store them in a safe place.
- You will be logged in for the first time and your My Workspace site will now appear. Continue
to (b) to join your courses, projects, or portfolios. Your
WyoSakai account will persist across semesters.
(b) Getting into a WyoSakai course
- When you have logged in to your My Workspace page
in WyoSakai,
find the MY ACCOUNT box and click on the "Membership" tool.
- Click on the "Joinable Sites" link at the top of
the frame to open the list of courses, find the title
of the course, project, or portfolio worksite concerned-- you may
have to page through the list using the arrows on the upper right-- and click
on its "Join" link. (If you have already joined the
worksite, it will
not show on the list.) Take care that the course you select
shows the correct semester, section, and instructor.
- At this point, the new course or worksite will be
listed in your "My
Sites" tab. Click on the title of your new course or any other
worksite to enter it. (You can
add a worksite at
any time through "Joinable Sites.")
From now on, just log in and enter your course
worksite through the Quicklinks at the top or "My Sites."
COURSE STUDIO in WYOWEB
Students, if your instructor tells you that your
course materials are in WyoWeb, log in to the WyoWeb portal, and, under
the Student Resources tab, locate the My Courses channel (upper left)
and click on the semester link. You will see a list of the courses
for which you are registered. Click on the course title to enter
the home page for that course. You will see the tools and
materials to which your instructor has referred.
EVERYBODY:
Students, please allow adequate time and resources for
the acquisition and use of online course materials, which are provided
as a supplemental service to you. Connections from home through a
third-party ISP are fraught with problems beyond our control.
Downloading images over a slow modem connection can take several
minutes, perhaps hours. You are invited to use the faster Student
Labs. If you have difficulties, call 766-5499 or e-mail
onlnsupp@uwyo.edu.
