Online Supplemental Courses at UW

The University of Wyoming offers three online course platforms intended for use as supplements to classroom courses-- eCompanion, WyoSakai, and Course Studio.  (WebCT is discontinued at the end of May 2009.)

Students:

For a Course Studio course in WyoWeb, student enrollment reflects official UW registration as it takes place on the Banner student information system.

For a WyoSakai course, students create their own accounts and join courses themselves.

For an eCompanion course, student accounts are created by the eCollege system and students are added to courses automatically.

Instructions for reaching courses on all systems can be found in the Student Info section (see bar on the left, or http://uwyo.edu/ctl/Online_courses/student.htm).

Instructors:

For each course for which you are the instructor of record, a course website is provided in the "My Courses" channel of WyoWeb.  Please know the basics about that option, called Course Studio, if you take advantage of it; read the documentation under "Faculty Resources."

You may request courses on  our other platforms-- eCompanion or WyoSakai-- through the "Course Request" form in the "Faculty Resources" section, at the link on the left or directly at (http://uwyo.edu/ctl/Online_courses/faculty.htm).  Platform comparisons and How-To information can also be found there.

For a Course Studio course in WyoWeb, the instructor of record is automatically associated with the course.  Both faculty and students use their UWYO domain accounts to log in to WyoWeb and then enter the "My Courses" channel.

For an eCompanion course, students are enrolled automatically and faculty accounts are created or associated on course request.

For a WyoSakai course, instructors need to create their own accounts on the WyoSakai server, as well as requesting courses.  (See the Student Info page for account creation instructions.)

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to call 766-5499 or e-mail ectltech@uwyo.edu.
