Instructional Media Services

Instructional Media Services is a campus-wide instructional media production facility available to faculty, staff, and students of the University of Wyoming. A wide range of audio, video, graphic, and multimedia services are offered.

Many instructional media facilities (IMS) and services are available on a walk-in basis, but we strongly encourage users to make an appointment so that necessary equipment and human resources are available. For consultation, referral, or additional IMS information, please contact Andy Bryson, Coe Library, Room 307 D, (307) 766-2035, natej@uwyo.edu.

About the Instructional Services Center

ISC facilities are located on the third floor of Coe Library on the UW campus. In addition to the Instructional Media Facility, the ISC also houses the Instructional Computing Facility, which contains all of the equipment and materials for evaluating and creating instructional materials on microcomputers.

Access to the Instructional Media Facilities

The Instructional Media Facility is reserved for the use of instructors and their assistants in evaluating and creating instructional materials. The Instructional Computing Facility may be used by faculty or their assistants who have reserved time for consultation and equipment orientation, and on a walk-in basis for faculty previously acquainted with the facilities. Instructors are strongly encouraged to call ahead to make sure necessary equipment and assistance are available for the time they request. Faculty are encouraged to enlist the assistance of graduate assistants, interns, or work-study and independent study students. ISC staff will train both faculty and their assistants so that they may work on projects as their own schedules permit during regular facilities hours.

Scheduling of Instructional Media Development Facilities

Video Cameras and tripods are available for checkout. Editing equipment in the Instructional Media Facility is not. Please plan on using this specialized hardware and software inside the lab. Extended use of IMS staff time and resources should be arranged at least two weeks in advance. The Instructional Media Facility is also available for class tours and other demonstrations which may require specialized hardware. Please feel free to call the IMS for consultation and referrals as they relate to instructional media and computing. Or stop by and introduce yourself and explain your needs.

Charges

All of the facilities of Instructional Media Services are available at no cost to UW

instructors - there is a charge only for consumables such as video and audio

cassette tapes.
