Instructions for Faculty Test Portfolio

13 March 2009; RKH
In brief, join and practice with WyoSakai; look over the forms and wizards to understand the requirements; plan, choose, and assemble facts and artifacts; build your Faculty Test Portfolio, and submit it and share it as desired.

I.  Set up an account and practice with WyoSakai.  If you don't already have one, create a WyoSakai account and join the SW Portfolio worksite:

  1. With a browser (FireFox preferred) go to the WyoSakai web server, http://wyosakai.uwyo.edu/.
  2. Click on the link "I'm a new user, sign me up!"
  3. Enter requested information and submit form.

While logged in with your WyoSakai account, join the worksite "Faculty Test Portfolio":

  1. In the tool group MY SETTINGS on the left, go to Membership.
  2. Click on Joinable Sites.
  3. Find "Faculty Test Portfolio" and click the "Join" link.
  4. Under Quicklinks or My Sites, you can now enter the that site in any WyoSakai session.

II.  Read the announcements and browse through the pages to get an overview of the instructions and the process.

III.  Consider whether you want to include documents and other files.  Your "My Workspace" site is a private file store and web server, containing your own materials and private to you.  The work that you will submit as components of your Faculty Test Portfolio should be uploaded and stored there.  The Resources tool, listed in the left-hand column, gives you the file and folder commands necessary.  Click on the drop-down "Add" and "Actions" menus next to a folder for creating sub-folders, uploading files into that folder, creating a new file (by typing into an edit window), and so forth.  Click on the drop-down "Actions" menu next to a fileto edit details such as its name, edit the content (for a text or HTML document), remove it, and so forth.
