The third annual Wyoming Consumer Issues Conference, sponsored by the UW Colleges of Agriculture and Law, Department of Family and Consumer Sciences, Wyoming Attorney General’s Office, UW Office of Academic Affairs, First Interstate Bank, Wyoming Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, Associated Students of the University of Wyoming (student government) will be held on the University of Wyoming campus in Laramie March 15, 2002, from 12-9 p.m. Registration is from 11-12 p.m.Breakout sessions and panel discussions throughout the day will focus on consumer privacy and credit card issues. Topics include: Privacy Notices: Do They Really Help Us; Identity Theft: Legal Protections for the Wyoming Consumer; Consumer Privacy Protection on the Internet; Credit Card Marketing Aimed at Youth; Credit Cards and Overbuying: The Problem of
Affluenza; and Credit Card Debt and Consumer Bankruptcy.
Up to six hours of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits will be available to participants of the Consumer Issues Conference, approved by the Wyoming State Bar. Seven professional education credits have been approved by the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences
(AAFCS) and 1/2 credit unit from the Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board
(PTSB).
Early registration is $20 before March 1, 2002. After March 1, the fee is $30. Optional dinner is $12.00. Admission to the conference is FREE TO STUDENTS AND SENIOR CITIZENS, but they will be charged $5.00 dinner (optional) before March 1, $7.00 after March 1.
