The master of
science degree in speech-language pathology
includes two major
components of graduate study: academic and clinical.
You will study concurrently
in both areas, applying what you
have learned in your academic work to the clients
you diagnose and
treat in clinical experiences.
You will also pursue through your
academic coursework those
questions raised in clinical work.
Emphasis is on
academic and clinical requirements needed for ASHA certification and for your growth
as a well-rounded
speech-language pathologist.
It takes two years to complete the master program (including one
summer) for
on-campus students (distance students refer to
Distance
page).
Students will
complete four semesters of academic and clinical work.
After satisfactory completion
of campus-related clinical and
academic work, students complete two full-time,
12-week off-campus practica.
You will assist in choosing your off-campus experiences
from
among locations throughout the
United States
.
After completing the requirements for a Master of Science degree in speech-language
pathology, you will have fulfilled the
academic and practicum requirements for the
Certificate of clinical Competence
(CCC) awarded by ASHA, the Wyoming License in
Speech-Language Pathology, and certification by the Wyoming Department of
Education.
We provide excellent opportunities for graduate research.
If you are interested in research,
faculty in the division offer
personal mentorship in all aspects of the research process,
from
creating a question, to designing and implementing the study.
Students have the
opportunity to engage in research in a broad range
of topics in speech, language, and
hearing. Our division offers state-of-the-art research
facilities where
you can conduct
the research of your choice.
The following are the specific academic and clinical requirements for the

science course work as part of their undergraduate
program. If not, this
coursework will have to be completed during the graduate
program.

400 clock hours (CH) of
supervised clinical practicum (25 of these CH are supervised observation).

Distance graduate students are
encouraged to consider the non-thesis option.

graduate curriculum can be taken prior to being
admitted to the program
and applied to the course of study.
No course work can be more than 6 years old at the time of graduation.
