The Division of Communication Disorders is part of the School of
Interdisciplinary and Professional Programs, one of three schools in the
College of Health Sciences. We currently have 8 academic faculty and 7
academic professionals who participate in our degree programs. Our faculty
are active in research and in their professions, serving on editorial boards
of national journals, executive boards/councils of national organizations,
and national program committees. Our excellent facilities are located in the
new Health Sciences building. The UW Speech-Language and Hearing Clinic is
operated year-round, and offers both diagnostic and treatment programs for
children and adults with communication disorders/differences throughout the
lifespan. Clinic experiences for students also extend to off-campus
settings. Clinical experiences are supervised by clinical faculty holding
the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP)
or Audiology (CCC-A) as well as a Wyoming License. The graduate programs in
both speech-language pathology (M.S.) and audiology (Ph.D.) are accredited
by the Council of Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the American
Speech-Language- Hearing Association (ASHA).
The University of Wyoming is located in Laramie between the Snowy Range and
Laramie mountains with opportunities for hiking, camping, fishing, rock
climbing, mountain biking, and skiing within an hour of town. With a
population of 30,000, Laramie will seem like your hometown. Yet, the city
advantages of Denver, Colorado are only two and one-half hours away; our
capital city, Cheyenne, is just a 45 minute drive; and Ft. Collins, Colorado
is a short one and one-half hours away.
UW is a Doctoral-Research University-Extensive and attracts more than $41
million annually in research contracts and grants. Our beautiful campus
covers about 735 acres with nearly 80 buildings. Many campus buildings
feature colorful native sandstone, quarried only a few miles from Laramie.
