Faculty members head committees

Dr. Frank Millar is chair of the Faculty Academic Standards Committee this year. Dr. George Gladney is chair of the Academic Planning Committee. Associate Lecturer Rebecca Roberts is chair of the University Studies Committee. Senior Lecturer Eric Wiltse was appointed to the UW Committee on Committees for three years.

In other COJO news, Drs. Tracey Owens Patton and Michael Brown, along with former graduate student Mary Gatua, will have their research article published in the Howard Journal of Communications, entitled "Giving Voice to Invisible Women in Developing Countries: Rhetorical Criticism of Fire as Model of a Successful Women's Community Radio."

Millar and Roberts represented the department at the Summit Program's Sneak Peek session.

Debate team director Matt Stannard is one of eight debate instructors worldwide invited to teach at the first debate workshop in Iraq in December. More than 70 Iraqi debaters are expected to attend. Other instructors are from Singapore, Australia, the United Kingdom, Slovenia and the U.S.
