Major

The University of Wyoming's Criminal Justice program offers a bachelor of 
arts degree to students on the Laramie campus, at UW/Casper College Center in 
Casper, and at statewide locations through the Outreach School.

All Criminal Justice majors are required to complete 121 semester hours of coursework that include 33 hours of criminal justice courses.  Of these 33 hours, students are required to complete three courses that provide the foundation for upper division core classes.

The foundation courses are:

• CRMJ 1001                        Introduction to Criminal Justice
• CRMJ 2210                        Criminal Law
• CRMJ/SOC 2400               Criminology

In addition to the foundation courses, students are required to complete two courses from each of the three core areas.  The core areas each include several courses from which the student may select.

The core areas are:

• Crime and Deviance
• Criminal Justice Institutions
• Criminal Justice Processes

Finally, all students are required to complete six hours of supporting courses.  The courses may be chosen from the above listed core areas or from an additional supporting course area.
