Pre-Forensic Science Concentration

Pre-Forensic Science Checksheet

The Department of Criminal Justice offers a Forensic Science Concentration for Criminal Justice majors that consists of courses selected from several departments across the university.  These inter-disciplinary courses are intended to provide a base knowledge of the field of forensic science for future educational and employment opportunities.

Students pursuing the concentration will be required to complete 27 hours of Criminal Justice coursework, an additional 27 hours of coursework within the concentration (14 hours of which must be upper division:  3000 level or above courses), and 6 hours of elective coursework from among either Criminal Justice or Forensic Science Concentration courses.

Criminal Justice majors who successfully complete the Forensic Science Concentration will be better able to compete for entry into graduate programs in Criminal Justice and the forensic sciences, and will be better prepared to act as evidence technicians within police departments.

To declare the Criminal Justice Forensic Science Concentration you must fill out a Change of Advisor, Major, Minor, Option/Concentration, College, and/or Graduate Status form.
