University of Wyoming

Improving Rural Health Care

The University of Wyoming Family Medicine Residency Program took their first residents in 1980 and is committed to training Family Medicine physicians, emphasizing skills needed to practice in rural areas. Residents who choose to receive their training at The University of Wyoming Family Medicine Residency Program have the opportunity to experience all aspects of rural medicine and enjoy the quality of life that the Cheyenne community has to offer. The Cheyenne medical community serves a population of approximately 65,000. Our 320 days of sunshine a year provides for an abundance of recreational activities. Cheyenne also offers many cultural attractions.

Governor Dave Freudenthal

"The University of Wyoming Family Medicine Residency Center is one of the best places I can think of to master the art of medicine, and our state is one of the best places to live while you do it. From the Old West to modern entertainment to the great outdoors, we have it all. If you want to live in a place that values you, consider Wyoming. With all that we have to offer, it's no wonder that people from all over the world have chosen to make their homes here."
—Wyoming Governor Dave Freudenthal
