Requirements for a Minor in Chemistry

NOTE:  If you are in the college of Arts & Sciences, at least 12 credits in a minor must be in courses not being counted towards your major.  If you are in a different College, this rule does not currently apply to minors in the College of Arts & Sciences.

A grade of C or better is required in all courses.

Required Courses:

1020 or 1050 General Chemistry I  4 hrs
1030 or 1060 General Chemistry II  4 hrs
2230 Quantitative Analysis  4 hrs
2320/2420

OR

Organic Chemistry I AND

Organic Chemistry II

OR

Introductory Organic Chemistry

6-8 hrs

Elective Course - Choose one of the following (3-4 hrs)

3020 Environmental Chemistry  3 hrs
3550 Physical Chemistry for the Life Sciences  3 hrs
3750 Principles of Biochemistry (Dual listed with MOLB3610)  4 hrs
4110 Introductory Inorganic Chemistry  3 hrs
4230 Instrumental Methods of Chemical Analysis  4 hrs
4505 or 4507 Physical Chemistry I  3 hrs
MOLB 4600 General Biochemistry  3 hrs

Appropriate substitutes for the elected course may be approved by a student's advisor and the head of the Department of Chemistry.
