Research

The Department has state of the art research equipment including 400MHz NMR spectrometers, a GC mass spectrometer, an HPLC-electrospray mass spectrometer, an X-Ray diffractometer, an ESR spectrometer, a Mössbauer spectrometer, Fourier-transform infrared spectrometers, UV-visible spectrophotometers, assorted lasers, and a stopped flow facility. Access to UW computational facilities is supplemented by a number of departmental Silicon Graphics workstations. In addition to departmental resources, a wide variety of other equipment can be found in individual research groups, including high-pressure liquid chromatographs; gas chromatographs; inert atmosphere facilities; high-pressure equipment; electrochemical equipment; cryogenic equipment; computers; and phase contrast, differential, and atomic force microscopes.
