Graduate Programs in Chemistry

Located in the southeast corner of Wyoming, nestled between the Snowy Range and Medicine Bow National Forest, Laramie is home to the University of Wyoming (UW). Combining major university benefits and small-school advantages, we offer our students a truly unique and quality educational experience.  We provide 13,000 students more than 180 programs of study at the undergraduate, graduate, and professional levels; an outstanding faculty; and world-class research facilities — all set against the idyllic backdrop of southeastern Wyoming’s rugged mountains and high plains. UW is the only four-year institution in Wyoming and offers students the types of hands-on involvement and one-on-one attention rarely found at other universities.

Degree Programs

Research Ph.D. programs are available in the fields of analytical, inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry. Chemistry faculty are also active in campus interdisciplinary research programs such as MCLS and SERS.  Graduate students therefore can pursue interdisciplinary research programs which cross traditional boundaries within the chemistry graduate program.

Financial Support

The Chemistry Department fully supports accepted Ph.D. students who remain in good academic standing with Graduate Teaching and Research Assistantships.   Students in good academic standing receive an annual minimum stipend of $21,500 plus full tuition and fee waivers.  In addition, the Department has a number of fellowships that are available to exceptional applicants.
