Looking for a particularly useful way to make navigation more effective on your site? Consider leaving a trail of breadcrumbs. This technique, which by the way involves no bakery products, lets you include a navigational aid across the top of the page by showing the view how he got to that particular page. For example, instead of just listing a page title, consider something a little more descriptive like:
Home -> Products -> Widgets -> Item 1
Not only does this method tell the view where he is, but also gives him quick access to the different sections that got him there.
