Desktop Cleanup Wizard

The desktop cleanup wizard is a new feature added to Windows XP.  By default, it runs every 60 days and asks if it can move shortcuts and files to an unused items folder.  The cleanup wizard can be turned off if desired.

  1. Right-click on an empty area of the desktop.
  2. Click Properties from the shortcut menu.  The Properties dialog box displays.
  3. Click the Desktop tab.
  4. Click the Customize Desktop button.
  5. Uncheck Run Desktop Cleanup Wizard every 60 days.  See Figure 1.

  1. Click OK twice.
