Copy CD's with Windows Explorer

Windows XP allows files and folders to be copied to a CD-R or CD-RW using Windows Explorer.  A separate program is no longer needed to burn a CD.

  1. Insert the CD-R or CD-RW disk in the drive.
  2. Highlight Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer at the dialog box.  See Figure 1.

  1. Click OK.
  2. Click the Address down arrow in the Explorer window.  See Figure 2.

  1. Navigate to the location of the files being copied.
  2. Highlight the file(s) and/or folders being copied.
  3. Under File and Folder Tasks, click Copy this file or Copy the selected items.  See Figure 3.

  1. Highlight the CD-ROM drive.
  2. Click the Copy button.
  3. A balloon displays in the lower, right-hand corner of the screen.  See Figure 4.

  1. Click the balloon.
  2. Click Write these files to the CD under CD Writing TasksSee Figure 5.

  1. The CD Writing Wizard opens.  Enter a CD name, if desired.
  2. Click Next.
  3. Click Finish.
  4. Close the Explorer windows.
