Deleted Items Folder

There are easy methods to clear the Deleted Items folder in Outlook.  The folder can be cleared manually or when the program is closed.

Manual Removal - The First Way

  1. If the Folder list is not displaying, click Go > Folder List.
  2. Right-click the Deleted Items folder.
  3. Click Empty "Deleted Items" Folder on the shortcut menu.
  4. Click Yes at the confirmation message.

Manual Removal - The Second Way

  1. Click Tools > Empty "Deleted Items" Folder.
  2. Click Yes at the confirmation message.

Automatic Removal

  1. Click Tools > Options > Other.
  2. Click the Empty the Deleted Items folder upon exiting box.
  3. The messages are cleared from the Deleted Items folder when the program is closed.
