Pop-up Blockers

[pdf version]

Many users have reported problems with viewing or printing reports in the CES reporting system and in other programs.  The addition of a pop-up blocker in Windows XP Service Pack 2 has contributed to the problem.  Settings can be changed in Internet Explorer that allows reports to be printed in the CES reporting system and still lets the pop-up blocker work with sites where pop-up ads can be annoying.

These changes are made one time and take approximately 5 minutes to complete.  The pop-up blocker settings apply only when Windows Service Pack 2 is installed.

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Click Tools > Pop-up Blocker > Pop-up Blocker Settings.  The Pop-up Blocker Settings dialog box displays.
  3. Type *.cesreporting.com in the Address of Web site to allow field.
  4. Click the Add button.  The web address displays in the allowed sites list.
  5. In Notifications and Filter Level, change the filter level to Low: allow pop-ups from secure sites.
  6. Click the Close button.
  7. Click Tools > Internet Options.
  8. Click the Security tab.
  9. Click the Trusted Sites icon.
  10. Click the Sites button.
  11. Type *.cesreporting.com in Add this Web site to the zone.
  12. Uncheck the Require server verification (https) for all sites in this zone box.
  13. Click the Add button.
  14. Click OK.
  15. Click the Default Level button in the Security level section.
  16. Slide the button up to Medium-Low.
  17. Click OK.
  18. Close Internet Explorer.

Other programs such as the Yahoo! toolbar may include their own pop-up blocker.  These will need to be disabled in order to the CESR reports to work properly.
