Cent$ible Nutrition Announces New DirectorMary Kay Wardlaw, CNP Director

The Cent$ible Nutrition Program is thrilled to announce Mary Kay Wardlaw as its new director.  Wardlaw takes over the position vacated by program founder Linda Melcher who retired in June.  "May Kay brings a wealth of knowledge and a great vitality to her new position.  She will lead Cent$ible Nutrition in new directions and continue to strengthen its nationally-recognized leadership in nutrition education," said Dr. Karen Williams, Head of the University of Wyoming Department of Family and Consumer Sciences.

For the past year, Wardlaw has been the education specialist for CNP and prior to that was the education specialist for Wellness IN the Rockies (WIN the Rockies), the USDA-funded community-based research, intervention, and outreach project in Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming that promotes healthful and pleasurable eating, enjoyment of physically active lifestyles, and respect for diverse body sizes.  She is a highly motivated, skilled and creative educator who values experiential learning.

"The Cent$ible Nutrition Program is such an asset to Wyoming and the educators are the best in the country.  I am honored to serve as director and look forward to many years of helping families eat better for less," said Wardlaw.

Wardlaw received her bachelor's degree in Agricultural Communications and her master's degree in Extension from the University of Wyoming (UW).  Prior to assuming her position with WIN the Rockies, she was a county-based family and consumer sciences educator with the UW Cooperative Extension Service for 15 years, working primarily in community-based nutrition and health programming for adults and youth.  Wardlaw has led workshops and delivered presentations at national, regional, and state meetings.  Active in a number of leadership positions, she has been the recipient of several awards from the National Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, including the Florence Hall Award for Outstanding Program and the Distinguished Service Award.
