AlcoholEDU Program -Freshmen

ATTENTION: This program is to be completed by incoming freshman only! If you recently received a ticket or warning for an alcohol-related violation and were referred to the AWARE program you must report to University Counseling Center in 341 Knight Hall in order to complete preliminary paperwork and to get instructions on how to proceed through the program. This survey is for incoming freshman only and does not count towards a alcohol-related violation.

Instructions for completing the AlcoholEDU Program requirement:

Explanation of the program: This year, as part of our comprehensive alcohol education program, the University of Wyoming is asking each member of the first-year class to complete AlcoholEdu for College – an online, non-opinionated alcohol education program. Used on over 450 campuses nationwide, this course uses science-based research to educate students about alcohol and its effects. Whether you drink or not, AlcoholEdu for College will empower you to make well-informed decisions about alcohol and will help you learn the skills necessary to reduce or eliminate harm due to alcohol.

Part 1 of the course takes approximately 3 hours to complete, and we recommend that you take it in multiple sittings. You must earn a grade of 75% or higher to pass and receive credit for the course. The deadline for finishing Part 1 of the course is Monday, August 25, 2008 by midnight.

About 45 days after you complete the Exam and Survey 2, you will receive an email asking you to complete Part 2. The deadline to complete Part 2 is Wednesday, October 26th, 2008 by midnight.

Please note that failure to complete Alcohol Edu for College with a passing grade by the specified deadlines will result in your registration time being bumped to the last day of registration.

Instructions:
To begin AlcoholEdu for College:

1. Go to: http://college.alcoholedu.com/login.aspx 

2. Under New User, enter the following Login ID: 8C240727FIRSTYEAR

3. Click “Sign Up”

4. On the registration page you will have the opportunity to create your AlcoholEdu for College account using your email address and a password of your choice. At this time, you will also need to enter your official W number, which you received at orientation, and is also on your student ID. You must enter the W before the number. If you do not enter your W number, you will not receive credit for taking this course. If you do not know your W number, you can look it up on WyoWeb or call (307)766-5160.

5. You may log in and out of the course at the end of each section. Section ends are marked with a “Next” button. DO NOT log out until you click the “Next” button or you will have to repeat the section you have just gone through.

6. When you return, log in as a Returning User and enter the same email address and password you created when you first logged into the course.

7. You must obtain a grade of 75% or higher to pass. If you do not score a 75% or higher than you must re-take it.

Difficulties: Should you experience any difficulties or require support, you may contact the AWARE program at aware@uwyo.edu. The AlcoholEdu Online Technical Support Center is also available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Simply click on the “Help” button located in the upper right-hand corner of every AlcoholEdu for College screen. If you are unable to access the internet for the time needed to complete the exam, please try your local library for internet access or contact the AWARE program.
