Athletic training is a very hands-on, clinical intensive major. Because
of this, all transfer students must adhere to the following policy to insure
the learning and documentation of educational competencies and clinical
proficiencies.
Students may apply for acceptance into the professional program in athletic training if they are transferring from a Wyoming Junior College where they completed KIN 1052, KIN 1058, KIN 2057, KIN 2058, KIN 2068, and KIN 2078, and all other program prerequisites. Instructors teaching the courses must be ACI’s trained by the program director.
Upon acceptance into the professional program in athletic training the student must understand that competencies gained in KIN 2068 and KIN 2078 will be retested at the University of Wyoming until the student is deemed proficient.
Students will be allowed to apply for admission into the professional program in athletic training after they have completed KIN 1052, KIN 1058, KIN 2057, KIN 2058, KIN 2068, and KIN 2078 at the University of Wyoming. Acceptance of all other course work will be determined by the director of the Division after review of transcripts and course syllabi.
Coursework of students who are transferring from a CAAHEP approved athletic training program will be evaluated by the director of the Division and Program Director. If it can be established that transfer coursework is equal to KIN 1052 and KIN 1058, the student will be allowed to take the 2000 level athletic training coursework. If this similarity can not be established, the student will be required to start at the 1000 level coursework. Once all program prerequisites have been completed the student will be allowed to apply to the professional program in athletic training.
Acceptance of credits transferred from all other colleges and universities will be determined by the director of the Division in accordance with University policy. All athletic training coursework must then be completed at the University of Wyoming. Students will be allowed to apply for acceptance into the professional program in athletic training once program prerequisites have been completed.
