In April of 2005 the Committee on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program ( CAAHEP ) granted initial accreditation to the Kinesiology and Health Promotion--Athletic Training major. The mission of the Kinesiology and Health Promotion-Athletic Training major is to promote an environment of excellence and achievement in athletic training education. This mission will be accomplished through teaching, scholarship, creative activity, and clinical experiences. Paramount to the mission of the Athletic Training Education Program is the preparation of the student as an entry-level NATA-BOC certified athletic trainer in a variety of educational, clinical, and business settings for the health care of the physically active. This preparation focuses on participation in a democratic society that supports diversity of cultural values and practices. As an integral part of the University wide mission, the Athletic Training Education Program is committed to identify and provide educational experiences that promote the relationship between the physically active and health.
