Educational-Goals and Objectives
Upon completion of the University of Wyoming, Division of K & HP-Athletic
Training Major, the student should:
- Possess a sound knowledge and clinical skills in order to function
as a NATA-BOC certified athletic trainer in the health care of the
athlete and the physically active.
- Possess a sound knowledge and skill in health care administration
and professional responsibilities for the certified athletic trainer.
- Show proficiency in regards to the clinical skills needed as an
entry-level certified athletic trainer.
- Be able to implement a risk management and preventative program for
athletes and others involved in physical activity.
- Be able to provide for emergency care, triage, and management of
emergencies and life-threatening situations for the physically active.
- Be able to evaluate and recognize upper extremity, cervical spine,
head injuries lower extremity and spine injuries that occur to the
athlete and the physically active.
- Possess a sound knowledge in the foundation of appropriate
rehabilitation principles and techniques based on current rational for
the health care of the athlete and the physically active.
- Be able to understand and apply therapeutic modalities for the
health care of the athlete and the physically active.
- Be able to recognize, manage, and refer the general medical
conditions and disabilities that occur to athletes and the physically
active.
- Posses the knowledge and skills necessary to better understand the
pharmacology of athletic health management, and how it impacts the
health care of the athlete and the physically active.
- Posses a sound knowledge of human anatomy, movement, nutrition, and
physiological principles as they affect the health care of the athlete
and the physically active.
