Educational-Goals and Objectives
 

Upon completion of the University of Wyoming, Division of K & HP-Athletic Training Major, the student should:

  1. Possess a sound knowledge and clinical skills in order to function as a NATA-BOC certified athletic trainer in the health care of the athlete and the physically active.
  2. Possess a sound knowledge and skill in health care administration and professional responsibilities for the certified athletic trainer.
  3. Show proficiency in regards to the clinical skills needed as an entry-level certified athletic trainer.
  4. Be able to implement a risk management and preventative program for athletes and others involved in physical activity.
  5. Be able to provide for emergency care, triage, and management of emergencies and life-threatening situations for the physically active.
  6. Be able to evaluate and recognize upper extremity, cervical spine, head injuries lower extremity and spine injuries that occur to the athlete and the physically active.
  7. Possess a sound knowledge in the foundation of appropriate rehabilitation principles and techniques based on current rational for the health care of the athlete and the physically active.
  8. Be able to understand and apply therapeutic modalities for the health care of the athlete and the physically active.
  9. Be able to recognize, manage, and refer the general medical conditions and disabilities that occur to athletes and the physically active.
  10. Posses the knowledge and skills necessary to better understand the pharmacology of athletic health management, and how it impacts the health care of the athlete and the physically active.
  11. Posses a sound knowledge of human anatomy, movement, nutrition, and physiological principles as they affect the health care of the athlete and the physically active.
