Dr. Robert J. Curnow, along with Dr. David A. Kieffer, founded Gem City Bone & Joint in 1976.

Dr. Curnow is board certified with the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and is an active member of the American Hand Society. He has been a UW team physician for 28 years.  During this time he has been actively involved in the education of the athletic training student.  He has been a guest lecture, taught in-service classes and frequently has the athletic training student in surgical observations.

He received his BS degree from William Jewel College in 1967 and his MD degree from the University of Missouri Medical School in 1971.  He did his internship in orthopaedics at Kansas City General Hospital and his residency at the University of Missouri Medical School.  He also completed a fellowship in hand surgery in 1976 at the University of Indiana.
