As an athletic training student it is extremely important that you attend
and participate in all of your clinical experiences. In order to conduct
these experiences in a professional and orderly manner the athletic training
student must abide by the policies and procedures as documented in the
“Athletic Training Student Handbook”. Violations of these policies and
procedures will result in the implementation of this “Infraction Policy”.
The Policy is based upon the following point system:
Mild = 1 point Moderate = 3 points Severe = 6 points
An athletic training student who accrues a total of six (6) points during
the academic year will be dismissed from their clinical experience for a
time period that is determined by the Head Athletic Trainer, the Program
Director of Athletic Training Education, and the head of the Division of
Kinesiology. During this time period the athletic training student will no
longer be able to count clinical hours or check off on proficiencies. The
athletic training rooms and affiliated sites will be off limits, travel with
athletic teams will not be offered, and the student will be required to make
up the deficient hours and proficiencies.
Upon accrual of twelve (12) points as an athletic training student within
the athletic training education program at the University of Wyoming the
athletic training student will be permanently dismissed from clinical
rotations.
Upon accruing an infraction the athletic training student will be notified
in writing within 48 hours of when the situation occurred. The athletic
training student is then responsible for scheduling a meeting with the ACI/CI
who wrote the infraction as well as the Athletic Training Education Program
Director. These meetings must take place within one week from the date of
the infraction. The original infraction notice and all correspondence will
be kept in the student’s athletic training portfolio.
